Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency Issues COVID-19 Alert

Minneapolis, MN. March 14, 2020 — The Corona virus (COVID-19) has invaded the life of entire populations. How we interact with people has dramatically changed. Social life is different. Work life is different. Many of us are working from home, conducting meetings virtually. Internet usage is increasing. This increased activity is providing an opportunity to cyber criminals.

We are all washing our hands and practicing “social distancing”. We also need to protect ourselves from the increasing risk to our digital lives. Be aware of increasing COVID-19 virus related malware attacks, booby trapped URL’s and credential stuffing scams. For example, a phishing email attack seeking to spread Remcos RAT (remote access control) malware was discovered last week. If you receive an email with the subject line naming the Corona virus or COVID-19. So, be aware! Even if it appears that an email is coming from the CDC, the World Health Organization (WHO) or another legitimate sounding organization, think before you click!

For those of you working from home, practice extra vigilance. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a specific alert on Friday. “As organizations use VPNs for telework, more vulnerabilities are being found and targeted by malicious cyber actors,” CISA wrote. “Update VPNs, network infrastructure devices, and devices being used to remote into work environments with the latest software patches and security configurations.” CISA also underlined the importance of flagging suspicious emails, noting that “malicious cyber actors may increase phishing emails targeting teleworkers to steal their usernames and passwords.”

CyberSafety Registry is Launched Effective Today.

Minneapolis, MN / August 12, 2019 — The CyberSafety Registry is a patented risk scoring service providing an enterprise compliance impact and governance risk understanding, that is relevant to regulatory exposures according to their business sector, geography and trade vertical.

The CS Registry is a practical, extensive, searchable database of regulations and business rules incorporating EU/GDPR, USA data security requirements and Canada’s data privacy regulations, which concern all organization’s who must comply within today’s online business services environment. The CSR provides three different risk analytic scores:

Compliance Impact Score (CIS) is a compendium of data privacy and cybersecurity regulations matched to a global compliance directory of rules and recitals within a single database. CIS identifies the complex regulatory exposures affecting an organization into a meaningful, cross-correlated summary of regulatory compliance language including a score. The measured outcome is an objective Compliance Impact Score provisioned to qualify the risk of impact to business operations and policies that need to comply with multiple regulations.

Governance Risk Score (GRS) is a resourceful cross-reference tool matched to 170+ governance risk questions and compliance rules that help the CISO/DPO manage their inherent responsibilities in the complex regulatory world of data security and privacy in a cloud service world. The outcome is an objective Governance Risk Score (GRS) designed to qualify/quantify the governance risks attributed to compliance in the business operations and policies that affect mandated regulatory requirements.

CyberSafety Score (CSS) The CyberSafety Score (CSS) is a real-time, relevant and accurate cyber-safety comparative analysis of an organization’s risks attributed to data governance, cybersecurity and data privacy. The CSS is incrementally applied to demonstrate the level of compliance in cyber-risk protection afforded to data, software, hardware, including operations and policies in IT network environments.

During the next 4 days, CloudCover will introduce the CSR. Who should use it? Why it should be used? etc. At the end of the week, you will be invited to answer a series of questions which will allow you to view your enterprise overall CyberSafety Score. For a limited time, CloudCover is offering this as a FREE service!

“This patent compliance scoring approach goes well beyond the rules-based compliance solutions and data bases of today.” said Stephen Cardot, patent inventor and CEO of CloudCover. Stephen, states further, “The CS Registry enables us to stake claim as a new compliance market leader, making our CyberSafety Score the superior risk metric in the next generation of data compliance.”

This additional patent comes on the heels of CloudCover’s invitation in June 2019 to join Stanford University’s Global Projects Center Digital Cities research initiative which creates a focused research effort for the implementation and application of our technology advances into the cybersecurity sector. CloudCover Announces SOAR Cybersecurity Patent.

Minneapolis, MN / July 15, 2019 — CloudCover announced the issuance by the US Patent Office of a patent, No. US 10326777 B2 that covers the Internet technology used to identify threats, and security orchestrate, automate, and apply incident response utilizing the CyberSafety B1 Platform technology to auto-generate custom security risk-rules in sub-second, directing one or more of it’s B1 module  technologies to prevent subsequent communication traffic from specific sources from infecting a customer’s protected network.

Security orchestration is now a very important aspect of any cybersecurity solution, today. In order to provide protection from different types of security threats, a typical cybersecurity system may employ a significant number of technologies to monitor the network and, in some cases, perform actions to protect the customer’s network from identified threats or potential threats. Perpetrators, who employ such activity (such as DDoS attacks) typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, education systems and utilities, as well as root name servers. CloudCover B1 technology is risk aware and capable of mitigating these forms of attack in sub-second.

“Security orchestration and automation, threat intelligence and incident response (SOAR) in sub-second, are an integral part of our CyberSafety B1 platform’s protection,” said Stephen Cardot, President, of CloudCover USA. “By incorporating our B1’s patented SOAR rules generation, we are able to not only identify and stop all forms of cyber attacks in sub-second, but also learn from them so we are able to anticipate in sub-second, the “never-before-seen” malware variants that will follow, and write additional rules continuously” he added.

Gartner describes SOAR as the collection of disparate technologies that enable businesses to gather data and security alerts from different sources. SOAR combines three previously different technology sectors — security orchestration and automation, threat intelligence and incident response. “In the world of cyber-warfare, cyber security threats are constantly evolving with greater complexity and speed with no end in sight. Simply put, an organization is unable to protect their IT network infrastructure. The need for response procedures and threat analysis is now demanding to be sub-second in order to be cyber safe. Gartner states ”Using SOAR tools can automate a business’s response procedures and threat analysis thus allowing the digital workflow for all machine-driven activities to be automated.”

“This patent approach goes well beyond the rules-based cybersecurity solutions and data bases of today.” said Robert Demopoulos, patent inventor and CTO of CloudCover. Also, Stephen Cardot, CEO, states further, “The patent enables us to stake our claim on the new cybersecurity marketplace, making B1’s security orchestration and automation, threat intelligent incident response as a superior technology in next generation cyber safety.”

This additional patent comes on the heels of CloudCover’s invitation in June 2019 to join Stanford University’s Global Projects Center Digital Cities research initiative which creates a focused research effort for the implementation and application of our technology advances into the cybersecurity sector. The patent constitutes yet another critical technology first for CloudCover, which sees automated cyber safety as a key practice of its overall technology strategy to provide real time cybersecurity data insurance, on-demand.

B1 Announces 10G Platform to Ensure Sub-Second Cybersecurity

MINNEAPOLIS, MN / April 19, 2016 – CloudCover B1 announced today its 10G Fiber Platform capability in its ongoing commitment to staying ahead of rapidly changing cyber threats on the internet. The Automated Intelligence® and DDoS® technology, along with the unique system architecture allows B1 to analyze, inspect and react to threats in sub-second, all at 10G speeds that cyber criminals are already using today.

According to Jim Libersky, President of B1, “Internet speeds are increasing all the time and with over an estimated 150,000 new Malware versions being released every day, network security tactics can no longer rely on the archaic methods of analyzing, identifying and removing threats in use today by many providers, especially when the cyber criminals are operating at 10G or faster.”

Consider that in today’s technology, 10 gigabytes of data usage for Smartphones occurs in one second. That compares to downloading 10 mb of videos, photos or business documents, in one second. Now think about defending against Malware at speeds of 10G.

Unfortunately, many recognizable companies provide cyber security protocol that continue to use outdated threat management tactics such as Sandboxing, which takes at least two hours to inspect, analyze, update and react to cyber threats. Considered fast a few years ago, in a 10G world that is no longer a viable option.

And B1 has the experience to back it up. B1 recently provided threat assessment, sub-second protection and cyberattack expertise for threats at Super Bowl 50 as a member of their Cyber Security Team where the B1 10G platform inspected wired and wireless networks in one of the most technically advanced arenas in North America.

Added Libersky, “B1 proved to be superior in that we had zero false positives after a thorough period of base aligning, until and during the Super Bowl, all in sub-second.” B1 is a true cyber security partner for any company, school system or public entity.

B1 Selected to Cyber Security Team for Super Bowl 50

SANTA CLARE, CA / February 9, 2016 – CloudCover USA (the “B1” technology group), the cyber security firm based in Minneapolis, was proud to be selected as a member of the Operation Center COM-L team for the Super Bowl 50, providing threat assessment, sub-second protection and cyber attack expertise for threats most football fans will never see at the most technologically advanced stadium ever to host the game.

Led by the FBI’s San Francisco Division and several federal agencies, and teams from Northern California Regional Intelligence Center and City of Santa Clara, B1 experts will help identify hackers and cyber attacks for everything from stealing personal information to controlling Wi-Fi and internet access, to all the computer systems that keep the game and its production on schedule.

Apart from other companies providing security threat products, B1 brings its patented ability to analyze traffic on all seven OSI layers to identify the known and unknown threats, and fends off probes and potential attacks at the point of impact, all in sub-second.

“We were brought in because of our accuracy in discovering never-before-seen cyber threats ahead of others.”, said James Libersky, President of CloudCover USA B1 technology division. “By incorporating B1 patented Sub-second Intelligent Threat Management® (ITM) and our patented SOAR technology we are able to not only identify and stop all forms of cyber attacks in milliseconds, but also learn from them so we are ready for the variants that will follow.”

In addition to Mr. Libersky’s expertise, other members of the B1 team include Robert Demopoulos, Senior Vice President of technology and inventor of the patented sub-second ITM technology.

“Our state-of-the-art technology is well ahead of the rest of the industry, and continues to demonstrate its accuracy in finding the threats other have missed,” says Demopoulos. “Because of its effectiveness we consistently disable serious threats and minimize breaches for those we work with ensuring their security profile is always immediately current and protecting the network environment.”

Members of the B1 team will remain on-site throughout the Super Bowl 50 and help ensure the game and all those attending will remain cyber safe and the fan experience for the event exceeds expectations.

B1 Issued Patent for Internet Security Technology to Stop DDoS

MINNEAPOLIS, MN / May 21, 2015 – B1 announced today the issuance by the US Patent Office of a patent, No. 5055.02US02, that covers the internet technology used to identify and stop distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) threats in sub-second which have recently scaled in speed, size, and sheer number of attacks worldwide.

A distributed denial-of-service attack occurs when multiple systems flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system, usually one or more web servers. Such an attack is often the result of multiple compromised systems flooding the targeted system with traffic. When a server is overloaded with connections, new connections can no longer be accepted, resulting in a temporary or indefinite interruption or suspension of services of the targeted host website.

Perpetrators of DDoS attacks typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, education systems and utilities, as well as root name servers.

“DDoS is now an integral part of today’s cyber-attacks,” said James Libersky, President, The B1 Group. “By incorporating B1 patented sub-second Intelligent Threat Management® (ITM) and the DDoS patented engine, we are able to not only identify and stop all forms of denial-of-service attacks in sub-second, but also learn from them so we are ready for the variants that will follow,” he added.

As of 2014 [update], the frequency of recognized DDoS attacks had reached an average rate of 28 per hour1 increasing the vulnerability of computer systems and networks and costing organizations an average of $40,000 to “clean-up”.

“This patented approach goes well beyond the threshold-based engines and data bases of today,” said Ron Johnson, Director of Marketing for B1, “and is available for VM, Cloud and server platforms of all sizes and performance levels, making B1’s sub-second Intelligent Threat Management the next generation in cyber security.”

The patent comes on the heels of SC Magazine awarding B1 for its 2014 Hall of Fame award for Industry Innovators for Perimeter Security. This is the third year in a row B1 has received this award and its second patent for internet security technology.
